Just as the Olympic Games Torch journeys across cities and countries ahead of the Games, building anticipation and uniting communities, the World’s First Stadium Innovation League – Sports Hackathon Torch has now begun its own journey across Telangana. Travelling from district to district, the Torch is set to connect athletes, innovators, students, and young changemakers, taking the spirit of sports and innovation beyond stadium walls into campuses and communities.
The statewide movement will build momentum ahead of the grand Sports Hackathon in Hyderabad, where live sport and structured innovation will converge on a single platform.
On Sunday morning, the Sports Hackathon Torch Inaugural Ceremony, the first official event of the Sports Hackathon, was held at T-Works in Hi-tech City, formally launching this statewide initiative. The ceremonial Torch was flagged off from the state’s leading innovation ecosystem, including T-Hub, symbolising the transition of ideas from incubation centres to the sporting arena.
The launch featured an international cultural concert by a 33-member South Korean musical delegation, while members of the Indian Red Cross Society led a ceremonial marching procession alongside the Torch. Positioned as a symbol of collective aspiration, the Torch represents the fusion of innovation and sports to inspire creativity and strengthen opportunities for emerging talent.
During the ceremony, Sundeep Kumar Makthala, Brand Owner of Hackathon, handed over the Torch to Harisai Reparthi, Brand Licensee for Telangana, formally initiating the statewide Torch Relay. The relay will now travel across all 33 districts, engaging athletes, students, startups, and youth communities with the support of District Collectors and local administrations.
The journey will culminate at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium on March 28, marking the commencement of the Non-Stop 24-Hour Sports Hackathon, which will continue till March 29, combining live sports participation with structured innovation problem-solving, supported by the Government of Telangana.
Through this statewide journey, the Torch carries more than a symbolic flame. It represents a mission to transform ideas into action and position Telangana as a hub for sports-driven innovation.
