10,000 E-Cycles in 24 Hrs Clinch World Record in Andhra

Electric vehicles are reshaping daily mobility in India, with South India emerging as a major growth hub. Gig workers, delivery partners and small traders are increasingly choosing EVs to reduce fuel expenses, travel longer distances and improve work efficiency. As petrol prices rise and cleaner transport gains momentum, electric cycles and two-wheelers are becoming the most practical entry point into the EV ecosystem.

This surge is being driven by better access and affordability. Lower ownership costs and growing institutional support are bringing EVs within reach of first-time buyers. Electric cycles stand out for their low maintenance and dependable performance, offering freedom of movement without financial strain. For many households, they have become essential tools for income and independence.

Taking this momentum forward, a Guinness World Record was created on January 31, 2026, as EV major EMotorad completed the largest electric bicycle delivery within 24 hours, in collaboration with the District Collectorate of Chittoor, KADA and IIT Kanpur.

The feat was accomplished in Kuppam, a model constituency and one of Andhra Pradesh’s fastest-growing regions, with a strong push towards infrastructure, industry and e-mobility. The initiative was part of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s “Super Cycle” programme, aimed at addressing high EV costs and service gaps that often affect the “Bharat” population.

Through the programme, over 10,000 families in Kuppam and Chittoor district were empowered. Beneficiaries included small traders, MSME operators, shop owners, cattle owners, milk sellers and other daily commuters. For many, it marked their first personal vehicle, bringing cost savings and greater independence.

Calling it a strong public-private collaboration, Kunal Gupta, Co-founder and CEO of EMotorad, shared that the initiative was a high-impact and high-velocity partnership. He thanked the Chittoor District Collectorate and KADA leadership for driving the programme.

The record attempt ran non-stop for 24 hours, with beneficiaries lining up until 4 am to collect their electric cycles. All cycles were assembled within 72 hours, involving over 1,000 EMotorad team members.

Confirming the achievement, Swapnil Dangrikar, Senior Adjudicator, Guinness World Records, said this was a first-of-its-kind record, with a new category created for the largest electric bicycle delivery.

Looking ahead, Gupta said EMotorad has over 20 EOIs from nodal authorities and district administrations across India. The company aims to deliver 100,000 electric cycles by November 2026.

The electric cycles are built for daily commuting and feature removable rechargeable batteries, pedal-assist modes, front suspension and mechanical disc brakes, making them ideal for routine work and household travel.
