At Hyderabad’s busiest metro station, Ameerpet, where thousands of passengers move through every day, National Energy Conservation Day 2025 came alive by reaching people right in the middle of their daily commute. In this fast-paced, high-footfall space, commuters were reminded that small everyday actions, like saving electricity at home, can collectively create a big impact on a sustainable future.
The message quickly turned into action as the station transformed into an interactive learning zone, with short games, quizzes, and direct engagement catching attention between journeys. Instead of just passing by, passengers paused, participated, and pledged, making energy conservation simple, relevant, and memorable.
This awareness initiative was organised by Bharat Smart Services, in association with L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad, bringing together metro commuters, volunteers, and officials to highlight the importance of responsible energy use during Energy Conservation Week.
Addressing the gathering, TGSCPDCL Commercial Director Chakrapani stressed that electricity consumption is rising sharply at both national and state levels, along with increasing power wastage. He emphasised that conserving electricity is equivalent to generating power and is critical to meeting future energy demands. He urged citizens to use electricity judiciously and adopt energy efficient electrical appliances.
He also highlighted that the Telangana government is promoting clean and green energy, with a strong push towards solar and wind power adoption. As part of the initiative, energy conservation pledges were showcased to strengthen public awareness.
The organisers shared that a week-long awareness campaign is underway at Ameerpet Metro Station, featuring Spin and Wheel games and quiz competitions, with active participation from metro passengers learning simple and effective ways to reduce power consumption.
