From Cranberry Coffee to Spaghetti Alfredo, Roastery Blends Heritage with Café Culture in Film Nagar

As cities grow taller with skyscrapers and embrace technology–driven lifestyles, preserving the heritage that defines their identity remains just as important. Cafés today are becoming more than just places to grab a quick cup of coffee, with many bringing together design, local culture and food to create experiences that go beyond what’s on the menu.

Bringing this idea to Hyderabad’s fast-changing urban landscape, Roastery Coffee House has opened its 15th café at Film Nagar, Jubilee Hills, drawing inspiration from Taramati Baradari, the historic 17th-century pavilion associated with Hyderabad’s Qutb Shahi era. The newly opened outlet brings together heritage-inspired design, Indian speciality coffee and an all-day food menu under one roof.

From its first café in Banjara Hills in 2017, Roastery Coffee House has grown across cities including Kolkata, Delhi NCR, Agra and Lucknow, along with an international presence in Helsinki, Finland. The Jubilee Hills outlet marks a return to its roots, nine years after the brand began its journey in Hyderabad, while taking its café experience into a new part of the city.

“Every new café is exciting, but opening another one in Hyderabad is always emotional because this is where Roastery was born,” said Nishant Sinha, Founder, Roastery Coffee House. “When we started in 2017, we simply wanted to introduce people to great Indian speciality coffee. The love and support we received from Hyderabad encouraged us to dream bigger. Even today, this city feels like home.”

The café is open from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM, making it an option for everything from a morning coffee to an evening meal. The average cost for two is around Rs 1,800 onwards, depending on the order.

Visited, Tasted & Reviewed

The moment I stepped into Roastery Coffee House’s newest café, the ambience immediately caught my attention. Inspired by Taramati Baradari, the café features grand arches, high ceilings and warm lighting that give it a royal feel. The wooden furniture and minimal interiors are complemented by a large Kalamkari artwork that immediately draws the eye. At the centre of the café, a spacious open coffee bar lets guests watch the baristas prepare every cup in full view. Outside, the greenery and spacious seating create a relaxed setting, making the café equally inviting indoors and out.

I started with Roastery’s signature Cranberry Coffee, one of its trademark beverages. Prepared with ristretto, cranberry juice and sparkling water, the drink delivered a refreshing mix of fruity sweetness and bold coffee notes. The cranberry never overpowered the espresso, while the chilled, lightly fizzy finish made it an easy choice for Hyderabad’s warm afternoons.

For starters, I picked the Spicy Chicken Southwest Fingers, served alongside French fries and a dipping sauce. The crisp golden coating stood out immediately, breaking apart with just a light tap of my fork before revealing tender, well–marinated chicken inside. The contrast between the crunchy exterior and the juicy meat made it a satisfying appetiser.

A plate featuring creamy chicken with herbs, flavorful rice, colorful sautéed vegetables, and a slice of bread alongside another plate of green pasta in a creamy sauce with a toasted slice of bread.

While browsing through the mains, the Chicken in Mushroom Sauce came highly recommended, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of my visit. Served with herb rice and seasonal vegetables, the grilled chicken remained tender while the creamy mushroom sauce tied everything together. Every spoonful of rice with the rich sauce complemented the chicken perfectly, making it a dish I found myself going back to for another bite.

No visit to a cafe feels complete without trying a pizza, so I opted for the Cheese Peri Peri Chicken Pizza. The thin, crispy base held a generous layer of melted cheese, topped with peri peri seasoning and tender chicken pieces. Fresh out of the oven, every slice delivered the right balance of crispness, spice and cheesiness without feeling too heavy.

Another standout for me was the Spaghetti Spinach Alfredo Chicken. Tossed in a creamy Alfredo sauce with spinach and grilled chicken, the pasta arrived steaming hot, accompanied by garlic bread on the side. I could hardly notice the spinach, but it added its flavour to the sauce. The creamy texture made every bite enjoyable, and the pasta almost melted in my mouth. It was rich enough to leave me feeling full by the end.

Coming to the desserts, I tried the Burnt Cheesecake. The lightly burnt top added a subtle roasted flavour, while the creamy cheese filling remained smooth and rich. It was not overly sweet, which allowed the flavour of the cheesecake to stand out.

I wrapped up the meal with the Dense Chocolate Cake. Topped with chocolate cream and a cherry, the cake had a soft, smooth texture with a rich cocoa flavour. It melted easily with every bite, leaving behind a pleasant chocolate flavour.

With its heritage-inspired design, speciality coffees and thoughtfully curated menu, Roastery Coffee House’s 15th outlet offers more than just a place to grab a cup of coffee. Whether you are stopping by for a quick brew, a leisurely meal or catching up with friends, I found the café easy to settle into and worth returning to.
