AI is rewriting the rules of the future and that future begins here. From reshaping industries to redefining careers, technology is advancing faster than ever. And now, Hyderabad is gearing up to make a bold leap forward with the launch of a world-class Artificial Intelligence University within the next two months, announced IT & Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu.
Being developed in collaboration with top global universities, the AI University will provide cutting-edge training, reskilling and upskilling opportunities for software engineers and students entering the workforce, helping them stay ahead in the AI revolution.
Inaugurating the Covalent AI Innovation Centre on Monday, the Minister shared that Covalent currently employs about 500 engineers, and plans are underway to create 3,000 more jobs within the next two years. He applauded Covalent Chairman C.V. Subramanyam’s inspiring journey from a small team under Cigniti to building a global tech success story.

Sridhar Babu said Hyderabad is emerging as a unique global tech powerhouse, combining Silicon Valley’s innovation, Shenzhen’s production strength, and Singapore’s governance excellence. With the highest number of Global Capability Centres (GCC’s) in India and a booming life sciences sector, producing one-third of the nation’s vaccines, the city continues to attract world-leading companies and talent.
He asserted that this growth reflects the government’s strong commitment and clear vision for Telangana’s tech-driven future.
The event was attended by IT Special Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Government IT Advisor Saikrishna, and UK Deputy High Commissioner Gareth Wynn Owen.
