Filled with creativity and collaboration, young innovators from across India came together to turn bold ideas into breakthroughs at Convergence 2k25R – The Hackathon. With the theme “Experience Innovation,” the 24-hour challenge pushes students to explore real-world problem-solving in Robotics, Healthcare Tech, Green Energy, Fintech, and Tech for Social Good. The event celebrates innovation, curiosity, and the spirit of building technology that matters — offering Rs 5 lakh in prizes, along with mentorship and industry exposure opportunities.
Hosted by VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology (VNR VJIET), Hyderabad, the hackathon was inaugurated by Dr. G. Mallikarjuna Rao, Scientist, RCI–DRDO, Hyderabad. Speaking at the inauguration on Monday, he said, “Convergence 2k25R is more than a hackathon — it’s a celebration of imagination, innovation, and purpose. Engineers are not just builders of technology but architects of a better, more responsible world.”
Dr. C. D. Naidu, Principal, VNR VJIET, emphasized that the hackathon empowers students to challenge conventional thinking and turn ideas into impactful solutions, while learning to innovate with purpose. Durga Prasad Kode, Retired IPS Officer and General Secretary of Vignana Jyothi, appreciated the event’s vision of nurturing student-led innovation and leadership.
Adding to the event’s insights, Dr. B. Sudheer, Dean – Student Welfare, and Dr. M. Prem Chand, Convener of Convergence 2k25R, encouraged participants to make the most of the hands-on learning opportunity and collaborative spirit. The program also featured words of motivation from faculty coordinators and student organizers who played a key role in shaping the 27th edition of Convergence.
Day 1 saw teams dive deep into brainstorming, refining ideas, and beginning prototype development under expert mentorship. As the hackathon continues into Day 2, participants are set to present their final innovations before an esteemed jury of industry experts.
