Hyderabad Gears Up to Be India’s ‘Creativity Capital’, Says IT Minister Sridhar Babu at IndiaJoy 2K25

Hyderabad is stepping into a new era of innovation — one that blends technology, art, and storytelling into a dynamic ecosystem where imagination meets industry. From gaming arenas to digital art studios, the city is fast becoming a canvas for creators who dream in pixels and code.

At the inauguration of IndiaJoy 2025 on Friday, Telangana IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu declared that the State is gearing up to position Hyderabad not just as an IT capital, but as India’s emerging “Creativity Hub.”

Speaking at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, he said the city now stands at the crossroads of technology, design, and digital storytelling, making it the perfect launchpad for the next generation of creative industries. The Minister announced plans for a Creative Futures Fund, an Esports Academy, and dedicated initiatives to support women creators and digital startups.

Highlighting the government’s collaborative approach, Sridhar Babu said it aims to act “not just as a regulator, but as a co-creator” of the VFX, animation, gaming, and content ecosystem. He pointed to upcoming infrastructure projects — including the Image Tower, AI Innovation Hub, and AI City — as key pillars that will boost Hyderabad’s global creative standing.

The Image Tower, built to international standards for production and post-production, is slated to open next year. Encouraging young creators to root their work in empathy, diversity, and Indian identity, the Minister said Hyderabad is ready to lead in software, gaming, visual effects, digital art, and storytelling.

The inaugural session brought together a remarkable mix of leaders from government, film, and the creative tech world — each representing a different facet of India’s growing digital economy. Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, highlighted the Centre’s support for India’s expanding media ecosystem; Dil Raju, celebrated producer and Chairman of the Telangana Film Development Corporation, emphasized the role of cinema in shaping new storytelling formats; actor Teja Sajja and cinematographer Senthil Kumar reflected the energy and vision of a new generation pushing creative boundaries; while Rajiv Chilaka, President of TVAGA and creator of Chhota Bheem, highlighted the industry’s global potential.

Together, they shared an electrifying vision — that Hyderabad is not just joining the creative revolution; it’s leading it.
