Hyd to Witness a Kuchipudi Sunrise: Yamini Reddy’s ‘SURYA’ Brings 25 Dancers, Live Music & Vedic Energy

Under warm golden lights, the stage will come alive with graceful footwork, flowing costumes, and the deep beat of the mridangam. Hyderabad audiences are set to witness a special Kuchipudi performance as the Yamini Reddy Repertory presents SURYA – TVAM Surya Pranamamyaham, a powerful production that brings together Vedic themes, classical technique, and grand group choreography.

For the first time in Hyderabad, renowned Kuchipudi exponent Yamini Reddy will bring this grand presentation to life on December 20th at Shilpa Kala Vedika. Conceptualized and co-choreographed by Yamini, SURYA features choreography by Padma Bhushans Drs. Raja and Radha Reddy, with artistic direction by Kaushalya Reddy

Part of the Kalaarchana series and an initiative by Natya Tarangini Hyderabad, the production draws from the Nasadiya Sukta, the Vedic hymn of creation. It traces the cosmic emergence of Surya (the Sun) as the force that illuminates, orders, and sustains the universe. Through intricate Kuchipudi technique, expressive abhinaya, and powerful group formations, the performance becomes both a visual spectacle and a spiritual journey reconnecting humanity with Prakriti (Nature).

The Hyderabad show features:

  • 25 dancers from the Yamini Reddy Repertory
  • Live orchestra accompanying the full production
  • Signature lighting and sound design synced to breath and rhythm
  • Vedic-inspired narrative rooted in the Nasadiya Sukta
  • A powerful message on environmental harmony and conservation

“Surya is my first-ever presentation in Hyderabad under the Natya Tarangini banner, an offering to this discerning audience. We journey into that powerful moment when consciousness first opens its eyes to light,” says Yamini Reddy

She adds, “Surya Pranamamyaham is a reminder of our sacred duty toward Nature.  In honouring the Sun, we honour the ecosystems that breathe because of him. This performance is an artistic prayer for conservation.”

Meanwhile, Kuchipudi legends Raja and Radha Reddy share, “Art must shine its light and touch the inner self. Surya awakens more than it entertains, and we are truly delighted to see Yamini’s vision unfold.”

Music for the production is composed by Kolanki Sai Kumar and P. Vidyasagar.
Tickets are available on BookMyShow, with limited seating for an intimate viewing experience. Entry is on a first-come, first-served basis, and audiences are encouraged to book early for this special artistic offering.
