The city lit up with bright smiles and energetic steps as dental specialists hit the track for a Walkathon at Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge, celebrating National Orthodontic Day 2025 on 5 October. The event, hosted by the Indian Orthodontic Society (IOS) and the Hyderabad Orthodontic Study Group (HOSG), aimed to spread awareness on dental health, orthodontic care, and the importance of a confident smile.
Flagged off by Nagarkurnool MLA and orthodontist Dr. K. Rajesh Reddy, the walkathon saw over 200 participants – from seasoned dental pros to enthusiastic students, marching from Cable Bridge to T-Hub with placards championing oral health.
The celebration did not stop there! The delegates met Telangana Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha to discuss ways to strengthen orthodontic care in public health.

The celebrations concluded with an inspiring keynote address by world-renowned orthodontist Dr. N. R. Krishnaswamy at the Telangana Contractors’ Club, where he shared insights into advanced developments in orthodontics.
The IOS also announced new initiatives to provide free dental treatment for underprivileged and rural communities, reinforcing its commitment to accessible oral healthcare.
