Travel and lifestyle are changing fast, and airports are no longer just places to catch a flight. From grabbing a coffee before boarding to upgrading seats, booking hotels, or paying for trips abroad, spending happens at every step of the journey. The bigger question is, shouldn’t every one of those spends give something back?
Credit cards are keeping up with this shift. They can turn everyday payments into rewards that actually make travelling easier and more enjoyable. But not all cards deliver real value, only select travel-focused or airline co-branded cards truly make your spending count.
Recognising the way people travel and spend, Axis Bank and IndiGo have launched two co-branded credit cards, the IndiGo Axis Bank Credit Card and the IndiGo Axis Bank Premium Credit Card.
These cards are designed to reward customers through IndiGo’s BluChip loyalty programme, making it easy to earn points on everyday purchases and travel-related expenses, with faster rewards for IndiGo bookings.
The cards, launched on the RuPay and Visa networks, offer differentiated benefits based on travel frequency and spending preferences.
The IndiGo Axis Bank Credit Card, priced at Rs. 799 plus GST, is perfect for regular travellers. Every Rs. 100 you spend earns you 1 BluChip, with extra rewards on groceries, dining, and IndiGo bookings. Cardholders also get 1,200 BluChips vouchers on joining, renewal, and milestone spends, plus UPI rewards and free access to domestic airport lounges.
For frequent flyers and premium travellers, the IndiGo Axis Bank Premium Credit Card, at Rs. 5,000 plus GST, takes rewards up a notch. It offers 7 BluChips per Rs. 100 on IndiGo spends, 3 on hotels and groceries, and 2 on other purchases. Cardholders also get 5,000 BluChips vouchers, access to domestic and international lounges, lower forex charges of 2.5%, and special offers on movies and dining through BookMyShow and EazyDiner.
Commenting on the launch, Arnika Dixit, President & Head – Cards, Payments and Wealth Management at Axis Bank, said the partnership with IndiGo brings together the strengths of banking and travel to create greater value for customers. She noted that the co-branded cards are designed to benefit both occasional travellers and frequent flyers through accelerated rewards and seamless access to exclusive privileges.
Neetan Chopra, Chief Digital and Information Officer at IndiGo, said the cards will enable customers to convert everyday spends into BluChips, enhancing value for loyal flyers while strengthening the overall travel experience.
Meanwhile, Sohini Rajola, Executive Director at National Payments Corporation of India, said the launch on the RuPay network reinforces secure, scalable, and convenient digital payment solutions for consumers.
Rishi Chhabra, Country Manager, India, Visa, added that as Indian consumers increasingly seek experience-driven benefits, the partnership aims to deliver secure, seamless, and rewarding payment experiences aligned with evolving aspirations.
