Hyderabad’s getting its green on again! The 4th Edition of the Granules Green Heartfulness Run (GGHR 2025) & Plantation Week – A Movement Beyond Miles was officially announced on Tuesday. After three power-packed editions, this year’s run hits the road on November 16 at Kanha Shanti Vanam, uniting fitness freaks, eco-warriors, and changemakers nationwide.
Recognised as India’s largest green run, GGHR is not just about miles — it’s about meaning. Also observed across 80 locations, the Plantation Week from November 9–15 aims to plant 10,000 trees across India, turning every step into a symbol of sustainability.
As the Chief Guest, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, TG Tourism & Culture and Special Projects, Investment Cell (CMO), applauded the initiative’s dual impact, boosting fitness and growing India’s green cover. He highlighted that while the Central Government has launched national movements like Fit India and Khelo India to promote fitness, this run stands out for a deeper reason — it’s hosted in a place that was once a desert, now transformed into Kanha Shanti Vanam, the world’s largest meditation center.
“It’s a remarkable initiative by the Heartfulness Institute under the keen guidance of Revered Daaji,” he noted, “as GGHR beautifully brings together wellness, sustainability, and community spirit — all in one powerful movement.”
Meanwhile, Uma Chigurupati, Executive Director of Granules India Ltd, shared how the movement reflects that large-scale positive change is absolutely achievable. She noted that two beautiful ideas are coming together — fitness and sustainability. “The run is more than just a sporting event; it’s like a picnic where families come together, enjoy the green surroundings, and celebrate life alongside athletes and runners,” she said. Uma added that the team is motivated by the unprecedented success of the previous editions of the Granules Green Heartfulness Run and is confident that an even greater impact can be created this year.
The 2025 edition adds a cool twist – participants can geo-tag 8,000+ trees via the ‘Gift-a-Tree’ drive. “It’s about gifting life and raising consciousness,” said Sanjay Sehgal, Director, Heartfulness Institute.
World No. 6 Para athlete Akira Nandan Banothu, fresh off a World Championship 2025 bronze, said, “Running’s already fun, but doing it for a cause like this? Next level. You get the endorphin rush, and it actually feels awesome knowing you are making a real difference for the planet.”
With 2,000+ participants already signed up and counting, international runners joining from the US, and the freshly unveiled GGHR medal & jersey, GGHR 2025 is all set to be a green vibe with purpose. This year’s marathon partner is The Nile Mile, supported by Medicover medical services, and officially timed by Timing Miles.
