TG’s T-Fiber Pilot Shines at IMC 2025 — Sets the Bar as India’s Model for Digital Inclusion

Telangana IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu took centre stage at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 in Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, as the State’s pioneering T-Fiber pilot villages were hailed as a national model for digital inclusion.

The T-Fiber (Telangana Fiber Grid) project is a flagship digital infrastructure initiative by the Government of Telangana aimed at providing high-speed broadband connectivity to every household, institution, and enterprise across the state. Under this project, optic fibre cables are being laid along existing water pipeline routes to ensure cost-effective and widespread internet access, especially in rural and remote areas.

On 8 October, Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia commended Telangana’s innovative rural broadband initiative, calling it a “role model for other States” and congratulated IT Minister Sridhar Babu for showcasing how last-mile fibre connectivity can transform rural India.

Union Minister Scindia also invited Telangana to support other States in replicating the T-Fiber model and expand pilot projects nationwide.

Participating in the IT Ministers’ Round Table Conference, chaired by Scindia, IT Minister D Sridhar Babu reaffirmed Telangana’s commitment to collaborating with the Centre on BharatNet implementation, addressing Right of Way (RoW) issues, and enhancing cybersecurity frameworks.

Participants at the IT Ministers' Round Table Conference, including Telangana IT Minister D Sridhar Babu, engaged in discussions on digital initiatives and governance.

Digital equity is the foundation of inclusive growth,” Sridhar Babu said, highlighting Telangana’s mission to bridge the rural–urban digital divide and build a future-ready network.

Accompanied by Venu Prasad Panneeru, Managing Director of T-Fiber, the Minister presented the State’s success stories and data-driven results from the pilot villages, which demonstrated how fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) connectivity is enabling access to e-governance, education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship.

Telangana’s model was widely celebrated as an example of effective digital governance, aligning with Digital India and BharatNet Phase III goals. The IMC 2025, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, brought together global tech leaders, policymakers, and innovators, spotlighting India’s digital transformation journey.
