As one of the world’s largest textile producers, India’s textile industry has evolved through decades of manufacturing strength, skilled craftsmanship and global competitiveness. Today, the focus is shifting toward innovation-led growth, sustainable practices, advanced machinery and future-ready skills, making awarding platforms crucial in defining what the next phase of the industry must prioritise.
From breakthrough technologies to bold student ideas and industry-defining leadership, the 3rd edition of the India ITME Technical Awards 2025 offered compelling answers, bringing together the brightest minds of the sector at a high-level industry gathering in Mumbai.
Hosted by the India International Textile Machinery Exhibitions Society, the event was led by Ketan Sanghvi, Chairman and Member of the Steering Committee, India ITME Society. The gathering saw participation from senior industry leaders, policymakers, academicians and technologists, including Roop Rashi Mahapatra, IA and AS, Chief Executive Officer, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Government of India, reflecting the national focus on skills, innovation and advanced manufacturing.
Speaking at the launch, Ketan Sanghvi said the quality of applications showcased the bright future of India’s textile engineering sector, driven by young innovators with fresh ideas, strong passion and a start-up mindset. He added that India ITME Society is committed to providing a platform that helps innovative minds turn ideas into reality.
Meanwhile, Roop Rashi Mahapatra emphasised that khadi and traditional industries are powerful engines of growth, stating that the fusion of tradition with modern technology and design can create sustainable livelihoods, stronger enterprises and inclusive development.
Industry leaders shared similar views, with Neeraj Jain of Vardhman Textiles highlighting the need for sharper technical insights amid changing cotton sourcing and global demand, while Edward Menezes of Rossari Biotech stressed the importance of vision, consistency and design-led thinking.
Swati Pandey noted that innovation and new ways of thinking, supported by AI, are now essential for industries to move faster and smarter.
The awards were evaluated by an esteemed jury of reputed technocrats and visionary leaders from across India, representing global textile bodies, leading corporations, academia and technology transfer institutions.
