From AI-powered diagnostics to climate tech solutions and next generation mobility, deep tech innovation emerged as the key focus as investors watched research driven startups move closer to real world deployment. As Hyderabad also continues to build momentum in AI and advanced technologies, platforms that connect academic research with startups and industry, such as Demo Days, are becoming essential to turn lab innovations into market ready solutions.
Focusing on such research driven innovation and market readiness, the Winter 2025 Demo Day was hosted by the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at IIIT Hyderabad, bringing together 13 emerging startups working across deep tech, MedTech, artificial intelligence, robotics, energy systems, language technologies, mobility and space applications. The event saw participation from more than 20 leading investors, highlighting strong interest in scalable, research-backed ventures.
The Demo Day featured startups from CIE’s flagship accelerators, including Avishkar for DeepTech, the MedTech Incubator and the AIC Social Accelerator. Founders showcased validated technologies, early market traction and clear investment readiness, highlighting how academic research is being translated into real-world impact.
A defining highlight was CIE’s Lab to Land approach, which connects startups with faculty and research labs to enable faster commercialisation. Startups presented solutions emerging from CVIT, RRC, CVEST and SPCRC labs, spanning intelligent sensing, AI driven diagnostics, autonomous systems, sustainable materials and next generation infrastructure, delivering measurable societal, environmental and economic outcomes.
The investor audience included SucSEED Venture Partners, Abyro Capital, O2 VC Fund, Hyderabad Angels, Pavestone VC and Gruhas, reinforcing growing confidence in research-led innovation. Established in 2008, the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship has evolved into India’s largest academic incubator, playing a pivotal role in converting advanced research into scalable, market-ready ventures.
The Winter 2025 Demo Day showed its strong commitment to supporting deep-tech startups and speeding up innovation. Such Demo Days play an important role in connecting research with markets, giving startups direct access to investors, industry feedback and growth opportunities, while helping investors identify credible, science-backed ventures at an early stage.
